Ghost rider (2007)

This film was taken from the “Marvel Comic Book” series and they did a good job of transitioning from a comic book to film. Nicholas Cage plays the lead and does a good job making some of the best psycho faces in the business. He is aided by Sam Elliot playing the part of the western ghost rider. There’s nothing not to like about this movie as long as you understand that this is not your traditional type of biker flick.

Cage’s character is a stunt motorcycle rider getting his start along side his father on the carnival circuit. He goes on to become totally “Evil Kanevilesk”. All of this comes about because Cage finds out his father is dying of cancer and sells his soul to the devil. Years later the devil forces him to become the bounty hunter aka Ghost rider.

It’s a fun story, suitable for the entire family. There are plenty of stunt bikes and jumps to make it interesting. The Harley in the film is a great old school chopper knockoff. The bike has a traditional flame paint job, with lots of chrome, fishtail pipes, ape hanger handlebars, spoke wheels and the front end has a nice rake. The whole thing is finished off with a polished panhead motor. That’s right she’s a looker!

The bike makes a gruesome transformation too bad it was all animation because if the bike was real it would have really been something. It transitions into the devils ride flaming tire, a skeleton looking frame with a fairing that is demonized. Too bad it isn’t real anyway it looked badass.

It’s a good flick, good versus evil on a Harley what’s not to like!
I’ll give this one four shots any day.
