Beyond the Law (1992)

This film is a financially high end cop infiltration film, starring Charlie Sheen. Charlie does a great job making this flick very watchable. It is proof positive that small guys can become outlaws too! The storyteller Virgil played by Leon Rippy is a great character for a snitch and he does a good job with the character.

Go figure Sheen plays an emotionally screwed up cop who gets fired from a small town police force and is instantly drafted by the FBI for undercover work. Let’s see, emotionally unbalanced and FBI hmm! Now remember this is supposed to be a true story about real people, in a real town, somewhere in the Southwest. Obviously Hollywood has added dramatic license but they did manage to get a few things right. I do so like the fact that Sheen's character fails miserably at being an undercover narc over and over. My bet is that part is true.

The President of the Jackals Motorcycle Club called Blood, played to the hilt by Michael Madsen does a really good job. The attire and bikes in this one are very good. The bikes are real and an accurate portrayal with the exception of the paint job on Sheen's bike it is a bit gay for my taste. Naturally this being a cop flick; all the outlaw bikers are portrayed as arms dealing criminals which some of know isn’t at all accurate. However, thankfully in this one they are not portrayed as psycho rapists so it makes it a bit more palatable.

Over all this is worth watching and it begs to remember “Trust No One” because they could be cops! I give this four out of six shots.
